About us

At West Sussex County Council we are doing something inspirational, something we are really proud of - creating a brighter future for the children and families that we work with. There is a feeling of optimism and momentum between us and that comes through in the services we provide which place children and families at the heart of all we do. This means better results for children and young people in the long run. And that's what it's really about isn't it?

We're working together as one professional team, in an environment based on enthusiasm and openness, creating more positive outcomes for the children and families in our care. As a leadership team we will stand at your side, supporting you every step of the way. To achieve this our Social Workers are based in small supportive practice groups, we have implemented Signs of Safety as our practice framework and we are committed to continuous professional development using WSCC's strong links with local universities.

Children Social Care is underpinned by a high quality early help offer, this service is called ‘Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help' (IPEH) Service. The IPEH delivers services and vital early help and support to children and families. Activities and staff in the IPEH services have a ‘whole family' approach to support, ranging from pre-birth to 19 years old (and up to 25 years old) with families having one main contact when they need additional support. The aim of the IPEH is to ensure that children receive the best start in life.

Why we do this…

We are now in such a better place. I found you all to be a great help with a human approach to our family situations, they have been marvellous. We are now a whole family. Better than we've ever been. We now talk to each other much more
